14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. – 2 Corinthians 13:14

So imagine you’ve got an evening to spend with the person of your choice.

Question. Who are you choosing? And why?

For me, my answer is quick and simple. I’d choose my wife, Robyn, hands down every time. Why? Because she’s my best friend. She makes me laugh. She’s fun to be with.  She’s smart, insightful, gracious, and loving. She’s the person God brought into my life to rescue me from me. I’d go on, but I think you get the point. God created us with the desire to be “with.” And in different seasons, the person or people you desire to be with may change. As a child, you may love being with your siblings and/or parents. As you get older, it’s often friends. If you love your work environment, colleagues can fit the part to an extent. Whatever stage of life you are in, the desire to be “with” is real.

The verse above addresses who fulfills our ultimate desire to be “with.” God is with us always. More specifically, the grace of Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit are always with us. Notice the Holy Spirit is the person of the trinity with whom we have fellowship. He is closer than a friend, brings joy to my soul, and gives me needed insight. The Scriptures tell us that the Holy Spirit came into our lives to save us from us. He is always with us. Today, I pray your desire to be with would be first met in the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. He offers a fellowship that will enrich your life and give you a greater security for every other relationship you enjoy.

This week, Pastor Brett is going to show us from God’s Word how the Holy Spirit is with us as we read God’s Word.  Take some time to read 1 Corinthians 2:9-3:4 . Take note of the Holy Spirit’s role in revealing the truth of God to us. Thus far, we’ve learned that God is the source of the Bible, Jesus is the scope of the Bible, and now this week we will see the the role the Holy Spirit plays in the study process we learned last week. I can’t wait for you to hear from Pastor Brett. Having served with him for 18 years, I don’t know of a man who lives life more aware of the Holy Spirit’s presence and power in His life.  Come ready to experience the fellowship of the Holy Spirit with your church family as we dig into God’s Word together.

Check out the worship set!

Loved & sent with you,
