O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1

Can you think of a time when you have had a level of thirst so strong that it hurt? Perhaps you can relate to this. Perhaps this time of year when temperatures seem to flirt with record heat and humidity, you find it pretty easy to work up an extreme level of thirst. Either way, I think we have all felt a level of thirst that, once quenched, the level of satisfaction we felt was incredible. Here is the thing, I am sure you thirsted again though, right? That is how our bodies work. That is how they were made to survive. Physical water quenches for a moment, but thirst will set in once again.

Friends, this week in our series on the Beatitudes, Jesus will draw upon this idea and teach us that, just as our physical bodies thirst and need quenched, so too does our soul long for and thirst after something to satisfy it. Church, I can’t wait to unpack this text with you. Jesus has so much to say about the longing, the hunger, and the thirst that your soul needs. My hope and prayer is, when we come together this Sunday either in person or online, we cry out with the Psalmist above, “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you…” The LORD desires to meet us and satisfy, Church.

Here’s the worship set for this week.

See you Sunday!
