As we study through the final third of the Gospel of Mark, we will come to witness firsthand the passion of Jesus. The opening verse of Mark is, “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” What follows is the ministry of Jesus as He declares the coming of His Kingdom and the equipping of His disciples to be “on mission.” Now, the gospel will climax with Jesus going to the cross, bursting forth from the grave, and ascending into heaven. The passion will culminate with Him entrusting His disciples, us, with a mission to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
