Our Student Retreat is designed for fun, friends, and great memories. But even beyond that, we are able to provide a weekend for the students to be built up as believers, refueled to tackle the rest of their school year for Christ, or possibly hear for the first time what Christ has done for them. The Student Retreat is a highlight for so many of the students and could be that place that helps them turn the corner in their spiritual walk.
This February, students from east coast Great Commission Collective (GCC) Churches will be headed NorthBay Adventure Camp.
This year’s theme for the retreat is “Abide.” Our focus will be from John 15. Much of the weekend we will focus on what it means to abide in Christ. We will also spend time focusing on how to understand friendships. The theme of abiding in Christ blends into our friendship theme as Jesus shows us what it means to love God and then that is able to translate into how we love others. Jesus even called those who abide in Him… friends!
This year’s speaker is Scott Boyer, site director for One Life in West Virginia. Scott has served at Lancaster Bible College, various church pastoral positions all with a heart to evangelize and disciple young people. Scott is married to Lindsey and has 2 boys- Weston and Eli, along with their dog Moose. Scott is a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, loves to create things with his hands, and loves to tell good stories. God has given Scott a deep desire to disciple and equip others to be deep in the gospel, and to share Jesus Christ with our neighbors, in our neighborhoods, and to the ends of the earth.
A worship band from Mission Church will be leading our worship time. The Student Retreat is a must-attend event for all students! They won’t want to miss it!
