Don’t you love it when you get to spend time with an old, true friend?
Do you have a friend with whom you can always pick up where you left off no matter how much time passes? These types of friends are special and rare. Yet when we find them, we must take the initiative to tell them their value. When these types of friends move away, it becomes a big deal when they come to visit. It becomes a time to catch up and pick up where we left off. If you have a friend like this, perhaps this note has prompted you to reach out and tell them you’re thinking of them. I’d do that too, but they’re person I’m thinking of is actually here for a visit.
This coming weekend, Mission Church has such a friend coming to spend time with us. Pastor Nate Newell, our global partner serving in Kuala Lumper, Malaysia, is going to be opening God’s Word for us. Many of you know Nate; but for so many of you who are new, let me just say how blessed you are going to be. Pastor Nate has a long connection with Mission Church. He was on staff with us and was sent by our leadership to plant a church. In addition to being a church planter, Nate also serves as the International Church Strategist of the Great Commission Collective, the church-planting network to which we belong.
Pastor Nate will be staying in theme with our centered series by preaching on Christ-Centered Mission from Mark 6:7-30. While this will be a break from our Colossians series, it will serve to be a timely reminder of all that Christ can accomplish through us for His mission when we keep our lives centered on Christ. I can’t wait to worship and dig into God’s Word with you. Please take some time to read the text, listen to the worship songs, and pray for Pastor Nate Newell as he prepares to share of the Lord’s work.
