Christ Centered Picture (of the family)

Colossians 3:18-21 (ESV)
18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. 20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. 

Some of you are tremendously gifted artists.  I have witnessed your works of art in different venues, and I am always amazed at how real you are able to make images appear.  Recently, a friend of my daughter’s did a portrait of her for her birthday, and I was so impressed with how much care and attention went into revealing each of her facial features.  It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words – meaning, that the longer we observe a work of art, the more we are able to glean and learn from it.

This Sunday, as we recognize moms, we are going to be looking at Colossians 3:18-21.  This text provides a picture for us of the essential roles that each family member plays and how they are to carry them out.  Each person is assigned carefully selected missions, and some are given cautions to ensure the picture of the family stays in focus.  These roles are being challenged as we walk through week after week of being quarantined, and so I encourage you to spend a few minutes looking over these verses, and then come ready to worship the Lord on Sunday and study them together. Here are the songs we’ll be singing to help you prepare for worship.
